(LOT 10)
1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Green Portrait Piedmont 350 Subjects/25 PSA 4 VG-EX

CENTERED GREEN COBB!!! You can search the globe for an infinite amount of time and be left high and dry in your excruciating efforts to find a mid-grade T206 Green Portrait Ty Cobb boasting near-perfect centering. Indeed, a vast majority of the existing Green Portrait Cobbs reveal skewed images, and even some of the few existing high-grade 7 or 8 known specimens do not come even remotely close to reflecting 50/50 image positioning. That said, presented here just happens to be one of the finest PSA 4 VG-EX T206 Green Portrait Cobbs on the planet, a breathtaking Piedmont 350 Subjects/Factory 25 offering that remarkably portrays near-perfect centering as well as an abundance of other awe-inspiring attributes! Assumingly released in 1910 (via the 350 Subjects verso), that year Cobb would post his fourth consecutive league-leading batting average, with his .382 mark, 106 runs scored and stellar 1.004 OPS all pacing the Junior Circuit. Of course, the immortal Cobb would extend his consecutive batting title streak to an unprecedented nine years, ultimately claiming 12 titles in a 13-year span.

It's the truly iconic Carl Horner portrait pose of the Georgia Peach that steals the show. This image transcends time back to an era when the fiery Cobb was our National Pastime's greatest player, and via his record-setting .366 lifetime average, the immortal Tyrus still stands as one of baseball's five pinnacle all-time stars. Encompassing the sparkling facial pose is a brilliant tranquil green setting that has eluded any serious flaws, with the aforementioned magnificent centering the main feature of this timeless marvel. Relatively clean white borders and a super clean Piedmont 350 verso are additional superlatives, with a faint diagonal wrinkle barely visible to the naked eye in the upper left quadrant and even corner wear (exhibiting an eye-pleasing uniformity) preventing a higher assessment. Seldom do we get excited about a PSA 4 T206 Ty Cobb subject, yet with its extremely rare near-perfect centering, sparkling green background, and overall world-class aesthetics, it's clearly obvious that this world-class offering merits a substantially higher pricing point than typical VG-EX values. Similar to the Georgia Peach's legendary stature, this mid-grade tobacco masterpiece merits the utmost attention from even the most sophisticated T206 collector!
