(LOT 4)
Ultra-Rare 1924 Knight Motors Inc. Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb Uncut Panel/Detroit Tigers Pocket Schedule PSA 1 PR – The Only Known Example!

UNIQUE BABE & TYRUS!!! Presented here is one of the most extraordinary cardboard issues extant, a possibly unique PSA 1 PR 1924 Knight Motors Inc. Detroit Tigers pocket schedule (uncut panel which measures 4-1/4" x 3-1/2"), actually including the hallowed 1922 W575-2 batting images of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only known example of this museum-worthy offering, recently crossed over from an SGC Authentic to a PSA 1 holder. Intriguing to say the least, it was issued in 1924 by Willys Knight Motors Inc., a brand name used by the Willys-Overland Motors American automobile company originally founded by John North Willys in 1912. Their neat advertisement is included on the verso along with the Detroit Tigers complete 1924 home schedule posting 77 home games at the bygone Briggs Stadium. Ever since the first gas-powered automobile was introduced in America in 1893, various companies raced against the clock to introduce their auto brands. Entering the 1924 campaign, Ty Cobb was a virtual "god" in the Motor City, having already played 19 seasons and capturing an incredible 12 AL batting titles in that span. Therefore, it made perfect sense that Knight Motors Inc. would select Tyrus as one of the players to promote their popular Detroit-based company.

Of course, it does not take a Rhodes Scholar to comprehend why they would also place the Babe alongside Cobb, with Ruth's record-breaking homer runs and dapper personality making him the undisputed most popular player in the country. Currently, the only other baseball card issue depicting both Ruth and Cobb is their 1921 W551 strip panel, with this miraculous keepsake far surpassing that strip in aesthetics, value, and historical significance. The PSA 1 assessment is solely due to the expected middle fold (since it is a schedule) that placed Cobb on the front and Ruth on the back side in its folded state. Some stray wrinkles and modest corner wear do not compromise the critical Ruth and Cobb W575-2 iconic images, with their brilliant contrast and clarity creating a magnificent presentation. Interesting enough, another baseball card schedule just happens to sit right alongside the "Holy Grail" T206 Wagner with regard to unparalleled prestige, that being the 1914 Baltimore News Ruth for which there are 10 known copies. The only one of its kind, this PSA 1 baseball card schedule proudly boasts revered W575-2 images of both the Sultan of Swat and the Georgia Peach, with its unlimited value to be ultimately determined by the hobby's most passionate collectors!
