1939 Ty Cobb Letter with Content Relating to the Opening of Baseball's HOF on June 12, 1939 – Full PSA/DNA LOA

RARE COBB LETTER!!! This newly discovered 1939 letter has been written in Ty Cobb's hand via black fountain pen on his own letterhead, with the Georgia Peach closing the letter via a classic "Ty" script. Most significantly, Cobb's letter addresses his plan of attending the Baseball Hall of Fame's opening induction ceremony in Cooperstown, New York. One of our National Pastime's all-time historical events, the HOF opened its doors for their inaugural induction ceremony on June 12, 1939. Approximately 12,000 captivated fans would show up, with 26 electees (including Cobb) from three different classes honored via bronze plaques that would forever grace the walls of this landmark building. The letter remains in fine condition, revealing two horizontal mailing folds and reading as follows: "Dear Hayward: I plan to be in New York at Pennsylvania Hotel on June 13th, 14th & 15th, hope can see you. Received your card from Savannah in March. I'm going to Cooperstown, N.Y. for dedication of Baseball Hall of Fame. Hurriedly – Sincerely, Ty." Letters from any of the original five charter member class referencing the 1939 HOF induction ceremony are virtually non-existent, with this museum worthy keepsake standing as a steadfast reminder of how a remote New York rural town will forever preserve the memories of baseball's finest players!
