(LOT 1654)
c.1928-1929 New York Yankees & Gehrig Multi-Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth PSA/DNA LOA

1920s YANKS/A's BALL!!! In the 1920s and '30s, the American League was dominated by both the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Athletics, each bolstered by extreme power at the plate and pinpoint accuracy from the mound. New York's Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri and Mark Koenig, among others, were dubbed Murderers' Row, but the A's rostered slugging greats like Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, Mickey Cochrane, Jimmy Dykes and Mule Haas, an equally formidable lineup. And let's not forget pitching, with the Yanks fielding Waite Hoyt, Herb Pennock, Urban Shocker and Wilcy Moore, while Philadelphia boasted Lefty Grove, Rube Walberg and George Earnshaw. Between them, from 1926 to 1931, these super-squads won a combined 615 times and captured six straight AL pennants and four World Series. Presented here is a spectacular 1928-29 Yankees and A's signed baseball, which includes 21 signatures of these "greatest hitters of all time". Though the ball appears in PR-VG condition the signatures and autographs present as "2-5" strength including Babe Ruth's "4-5" penning on the north panel. Foxx can also be defined as a "4-5" signature on the west panel. Included are these highly desirable autographs, in lesser strength, of Gehrig, Cochrane, Mack, Pennock, Simmons, Grove, Sisler (SS), Bishop, Earnshaw, Haas, Mack, McNair, Perkins, Quinn and Rommel. This official Spalding Baseball is extraordinary, signed by some of the greatest sluggers in history! PSA/DNA LOA included.
