1929 CHAMPIONS!!! At only 16 years old, Jimmie Foxx walked onto a professional baseball diamond as a player for the first time and at the geriatric old age of 21 was a World Series champion. Jimmie Foxx was one of those once-in-a-generation players, though that era seemed to produce about half a dozen others. With seemingly supernatural power, masterful hitting ability and superb fielding skills, with all due respect to Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx was arguably the best first baseman of the 1920s and '30s and was the first Major Leaguer to be crowned MVP three times. So, as a wily veteran at only 21, baseball fans and more importantly his Philadelphia Athletics teammate respected adored the beefy first baseman as supported by this extraordinary photo album offered here.

This beautiful team "SNAPSHOTS" album presented to Jimmie Foxx, "THE WORLD'S CHAMPIONS – BASEBALL CLUB OF 1929 – TO MY FRIENDS" by H. Madonna Wagner, features 28 autographed portraits of his teammates, manager and Thomas Shibe, son of minority owner Benjamin Shibe. (Home of the A's and Phillies, Shibe Park bore his name (1909-1953) until it was renamed Connie Mack Stadium in 1953.) This stunning array of 5" x 8" portraits include Hall of Fame manager/owner Connie Mack (9-10 strength) as well as Hall of Famers Eddie Collins (8-9), Mickey Cochrane (8-9), Al Simmons (8-9) and Lefty Grove (8-9). Portraits also include: Gleason (coach), Miller, Dykes, Haas, Pfluger (coach), Boley, Earle Mack (coach), Walberg, Burns, Quinn, Earnshaw, Bishop, Perkins, Shores, LeBouveau, Yerkes, Summa, French, Ehmke, Miller, Cronin, Rommel and Hale. Overall, the portraits remain in superb condition, having been housed in this delightful presentation album for nearly a century. The fountain pen signed autographs range in strength from 7-9 with the lesser due primarily to placement (dark ink against a dark background) and light fading of 95 years in storage.

This remarkably well-kept tribute presented to Foxx is a testament to the respect that Double X's teammates and organization had for him and his phenomenal skills on the field. Jimmie Foxx would lead the team to the World Series two more times winning their second consecutive title in 1930 and then fall to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1931. In the end, Foxx would finish his 20-year career, having played for four teams. He won three MVPs, two batting titles, the Triple Crown in 1933 and posted a tremendous 534 home runs and a .325 career batting average. This wonderful hard bound album serves as an honorary gesture to the championship team's greatest hero.
