1959 Topps #1 Johnny Unitas PSA 8 NM-MT
GOLDEN ARM!!! They had such great nicknames back in the day. And quarterbacks. To this day, some 20 years after his passing and 50 years after his final down, Johnny Unitas' legacy endures as one of the great quarterbacks in history. He was the epitome of professionalism and face of the NFL for 18 seasons. In 1958, at the helm of the Baltimore Colts, Johnny U threw for more than 2,000 yards, a league-leading 19 touchdowns. That year, the Colts topped the New York Giants for the NFL title. The offered card features the young Baltimore gunslinger in all of his crew-cut glory as an NFL champion, which he would repeat in '59 and then again in 1968. This is one of the most sought-after football cards in the hobby and especially when offered in high-grade. This 1959 Topps #1 example graded 8 NM-MT by PSA has only a dozen superiors and still carries brilliant color, exceptional centering and razor-sharp edges and corners. This striking example is well worthy of Unitas' Hall of Fame status.
