1973 Topps #615 Mike Schmidt Rookie PSA 9 MINT

MINTY SCHMITTY!!! In 1972, the Philadelphia Phillies sent Don Mooney to the Milwaukee Brewers to make room for Schmidt. That was Mike Schmidt and though his rookie campaign left a little to be desired, his slugging was evident as he bashed 18 home runs and drove in 52. Schmitty did not disappoint in the next three seasons as he led the National League in home runs each year and would do so eight times in his career. He also led the NL in RBIs, walks and strikeouts four times. Arguably the greatest third baseman of his era, Mike won ten Gold Gloves, six Silver Sluggers, three NL MVPs and drove the Phillies to the 1980 World Series title. Offered here is Mike Schmidt's 1973 Topps #615 Rookie graded 9 MINT by PSA. This near-perfect 1973 Rookie Third Basemen card also features LA's Ron Cey and San Diego's John Hilton. Superbly preserved, the background is snow-white with extraordinary borders displaying sharp edges and corners. Spot-on centering and ultraclean surfaces only serve to enhance the allure of this rookie edition of one of the great sluggers in Major League history. Only six examples surpass this high-grade Schmidt Rookie for '73. Mike Schmidt retired as a member of the 500 Home Run Club with 548, a group of sluggers that includes Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and more.
