Little did the baseball community realize that when the unlikely North Dakotan star, Roger Maris, broke into the Major Leagues in 1957, he would eventually eclipse the most heralded of single-season records. In 1961, entrenched in a home run race for the ages with teammate Mickey Mantle, the power-hitting right fielder clouted 61 home runs to break Babe Ruth's seemingly insurmountable 60-HR mark. It's no wonder that collectors seek his 1958 Topps #47 rookie card, presented here in an outstanding PSA 8 NM-MT holder.
