1954 Topps #102 Gil Hodges PSA 9 MINT - The Highest PSA Graded Example!
MINT GIL!!! Hall of Famer Gil Hodges was one of the Brooklyn Dodgers most beloved players, with this star first-sacker being one of the main cogs of the 1955 championship team that finally bested their archrival New York Yankees in the fall classic. A bona fide winner, Hodges also achieved momentous recognition as the NY Mets manager when they miraculously upset the Baltimore Orioles in the '69 World Series. Tragically, he died suddenly via a massive heart attack on April 2, 1972 (Easter Sunday morning), only two days shy of his 48th birthday. One of Hodges' best-preserved cards is this 1954 Topps #102 subject that has been graded a remarkable PSA 9, joining a meager eight other examples as the finest of its kind! Pack-fresh to say the least, its crisp surfaces, sparking portrait and batting images, radiant yellow setting, and pinpoint corner tips all combine to justify the pinnacle assessment!
