(LOT 634)
1949 Bowman #84 Roy Campanella Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

CAMPY NM-MT ROOKIE!!! Roy Campanella's professional baseball career began in 1937 at the spry old age of 15. Playing his first game with the Negro League's Washington Elite Giants, Campy would not make his Major League debut until 1948. Debuting at age 26, Campanella took over catching duties from Bruce Edwards and did not relinquish them until the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, when he suffered severe paralysis due to an automobile accident. However, during that span behind the plate, Roy hit 242 home runs, drove in 852 RBIs, was named an All-Star 11 times and won three National League MVPs. Presented here is his spectacular 1949 Bowman #84 Roy Campanella rookie card graded 8 NM-MT by PSA. An incredible portrait image of the three-time MVP winner that is encompassed by a rich and flawless autumn orange-brown background. Snow-white borders with near-perfect centering. Four razor-sharp edges and corner tips, and impeccable surfaces are the final exclamation points for this pack-fresh offering.
