NEW YORK NOLAN!!! At the end of the 20th century, fans voted for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team from a 100-man list provided by baseball experts. The 30-man roster was, of course, led by Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams and Willie Mays, but the #1 ace chosen by fans to take the mound was Nolan Ryan. Ryan never won a Cy Young, never won a World Series and was never named league MVP, despite having led his respective league 11 times in strikeouts, won two ERA titles and finished his 27-year career with a 324-292 record. Did I mention his SEVEN no-hitters and 5,714 strikeouts? Two marks that will likely never be touched.
