1967 Topps #581 Tom Seaver Rookie PSA 9 MINT

TOM TERRIFIC MINT ROOKIE!!! Locating a virtually dead-on centered 1967 Topps Tom Seaver rookie card is synonymous with finding a needle in a haystack, yet this miraculous PSA 9 MINT '67 Topps "Tom Terrific" inaugural keepsake just happens to boast one of the finest positioned images extant. Bested by a meager three PSA examples, its pinnacle stature is consistent with Seaver's rightful place as one of baseball's ten greatest all-time pitchers. His immediate success prompted the Topps Chewing Gum Company to incorporate Seaver as their #581 subject along with long-forgotten Bill Denehy in the scarcer, higher-numbered final series. Seaver's true 1967 rookie card was officially born, now residing as one of the hobby's most iconic post-WWII inaugural HOF issues. Soon to be dubbed "The Franchise", Tom Seaver was an unquestionable winner, and two years later, his 25 wins and first of three Cy Young awards would lead the Miracle Mets to their first championship. The HOF right-hander would end his remarkable 20-year career with 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts and a miraculous 2.86 lifetime ERA, standing alongside Walter Johnson as one of only two pitchers who ever compiled 300+ wins, 3,000+ strikeouts and a sub-3.00 ERA. The card reveals all of the pack-fresh attributes required for a 9 assessment, including a spellbinding image, sparkling hues, pinpoint corners, immaculate surfaces, and near-perfect centering. As a grand testament to Tom Seaver, we would like to summarize his elite stature by stating: "For those who knew him, no words were necessary; for those who didn't, no words will ever be adequate!"
