(LOT 207)
1954 Red Heart Duke Snider PSA 9 MINT

FLATBUSH ROYALTY!!! In the 1950s, New York boasted three of the great center fielders in the game and ultimately history, with Mickey Mantle in the Bronx for the Yankees, Willie Mays roaming center at the Polo Grounds and Duke Snider tracking down fly balls in the deepest confines of Ebbets Field. Joining the Dodgers team at the same time as Jackie Robinson, the two would lead the Dodgers to five World Series, ultimately winning the title in 1955 over the frequent rival Yankees for the franchise's first championship. Duke Snider made a name for himself with his powerful and accurate arm, his athleticism in center and his keen eye and strength at the plate, as well as his temper. Over 17 seasons with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers, the Duke of Flatbush collected 1,995 hits, including 389 home runs, 358 doubles and 1,271 RBIs while batting .300 for Dem Bums. He played one season with the Giants (1964). The offered 1954 Red Heart Duke Snider has been graded 9 MINT by PSA and presents as such. This card is MINTY all over with an eye-catching kelly-green background, absolutely perfect centering on the face, super-sharp corners and edges, and just an overall appeal that any Snider or Red Heart collector would be foolish to overlook. This POP 3 issue is the highest graded example!
