Like virtually every legendary Hall of Famer, Duke Snider's most iconic card is his inaugural MLB card, with this 1949 Bowman Snider Rookie sporting a remarkable PSA 8.5 holder. One of only six PSA encapsulated examples, a mere 14 specimens of the nearly 900 PSA encapsulated copies have managed to best this eye-popping masterpiece! The Duke of Flatbush certainly needs no introduction within the collecting community. Along with Mays and Mantle, Snider battled throughout the 1950s for New York supremacy at the centerfield position. One of the few players in baseball history to have hit 40 or more home runs in five consecutive seasons and the first National Leaguer to accomplish that feat, the Duke was adored by a seemingly infinite number of Brooklyn Dodger fanatics. That said, this PSA 8.5 rookie marvel truly stands as a perfect testament to his unbridled legacy, with the classic Snider portrait image encompassed by a radiant yellow background. Fine centering reveals only a slight partiality towards the left edge; the surfaces are near-immaculate; and a blisteringly sharp perimeter, including pinpoint corners, are the final superlatives justifying the ultra-rare assessment!
