1961 Exhibits George Herman Ruth Wrigley Field HOF PSA 5.5 EX+
'61 RUTH!!! Distributed at Chicago's Wrigley Field during the 1961 campaign were 24 different HOF postcards featuring some of our National Pastime's greatest all-time players. It comes as little surprise that anchoring this eclectic set was none other than the incomparable George Herman "Babe" Ruth, with his stoic black & white subject presented here in a superb PSA 5.5 EX+ holder. One of only five examples at this mid-grade plateau, it has been bested by a meager nine specimens on the illustrious PSA Pop Chart. Measuring 3-3/8" x 5-3/8", this classic Ruth bust image was originally struck by legendary photographer George Burke during "the Babe's" heralded playing days. Ruth's crystal-clear pose literally turns back the clock to an era when he dominated the game at a pinnacle level, far superior than anyone who ever graced a baseball diamond. This offering portrays relatively clean surfaces including a blank-back style (as opposed to some subjects revealing a postcard verso), the final superlative for one of Babe Ruth's most coveted post-playing days cardboard issues!
