(LOT 241)
1928 Harrington's Ice Cream #6 Babe Ruth PSA VG-EX 4 - Only Five PSA Examples Graded Higher!

RUTH ICE CREAM TREAT!!!... In 1928, a number of popular ice cream companies issued a 60-card baseball card set with their brand products including Yuengling's, Tharp and Harrington's. As is the case with any 1920s baseball set, the most popular and valuable subject for these highly coveted ice cream subjects is George Herman "Babe" Ruth, and presented here is his highly coveted Harrington's Ice Cream PSA VG-EX 4 keepsake. One of nine examples at this mid-grade tier, only a meager five specimens have been graded higher by the prestigious PSA grading company. Nebulous black & white Babe Ruth cards are taking off in desirability and value like an ICBM missile, with the Bambino's undisputed title as baseball greatest player sparking this staggering inflation. While a myriad of enthusiasts continue seeking his ultra-desirable 1933 Goudey bubble gum cards, they are extremely plentiful.

A much more excruciating task is locating his 1920s caramel and ice cream card issues whose availability is only a fraction of the 1930s bubble gum cards. Justifying this notion is the total Harrington's Ruth's representing less than 1% of the total 1933 Ruth Goudey population. Ruth's classic black & white pitching pose actually depicts Ruth in his Boston Red uniform and is the exact same image affixed to his momentous 1920 M101-6 Felix Mendelssohn issue. While the fine contrast is slightly compromised by scattered areas of surface snow typically apparent on Harrington's cards, the overall eye appeal is still consistent with the accurate PSA assessment. The final compliment is a relatively clean redemption back that indicates you could trade in the entire set for a gallon of Harrington's ice cream or swap a single Babe Ruth card for an ice cream bar. In closing, this significantly undervalued Ruth keepsake has immense investment potential due to its relative paucity level versus other mainstream Ruth cards and merits serious attention from any avid Babe Ruth enthusiast!
