Ruth was an absolute one-of-a-kind titan of all he surveyed. Ruth's record of 60 home runs in a single season stood for 37 years and his career 714 stood unsurpassed for 39 years. In today's age of excess, he may even give Joey Chestnut a run for his money in a hot dog eating contest before going to a game where he goes 2-4 with a home run. Only Ruth could do it.
