Outstanding Babe Ruth Signed Magazine Photo w/Cobb & Speaker Included in Image – PSA 7 NM Autograph/Encapsulation
RARE BABE AUTOGRAPH!!!... This possibly unique magazine page picturing three of our National Pastime's all-time greats, Tris Speaker, Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, has been eloquently signed by none other than Babe Ruth! Yes folks, the majestic George Herman Ruth has penned his iconic "Babe Ruth" blue fountain pen signature in vertical fashion along the classic Yankee pinstripes home flannels, with the signature graded an extremely conservative PSA 7 NM. Obviously cut out from a magazine, beneath the hallowed pose of these three Cooperstown immortals, the classic image states: "A truly great outfield – Tris Speaker, Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, all members of Baseball's Hall of Fame. This picture was taken at the dedication pf Baseball's National Shrine at Cooperstown, N.Y. after their playing days were over." The original image was taken on Monday June 12, 1939, when the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY first opened its doors for their inaugural induction ceremony.
Approximately 12,000 captivated fans would show up, with 25 electees from three different classes honored with bronze plaques that would forever grace the walls of this esteemed building. Doubleday Field would host a game between two teams managed by Honus Wagner and Eddie Collins (dubbed The Wagner's vs. The Collins), with The Wagner's winning by a 4-2 score. The highlight of the game would be when a 44-year-old Ruth pinch hit in the fifth inning, and although he popped out on a 2-2 offering, his presence at the plate sent the enthralled fans into a frenzy. While Ruth, Cobb and Speaker never played together, we cannot even imagine the goose-bumps one would feel if they saw an outfield with Ruth in right, Speaker in center and Cobb in left! A momentous image for the ages, it has been boldly signed by none other than the incomparable Babe Ruth, whose unparalleled diamond exploits have rightfully earned him the undisputed title of baseball's greatest all-time player!
