The 1999 romantic drama "For the Love of the Game" features Kevin Costner as Billy Chapel nearing the end of his career and in his final start. Finding out that his career is likely over and the love of his life is moving to London, Chapel conjures images of his career and love life throughout the game as he shuts down the New York Yankees to pitch a perfect game.

The offered ball has been signed by 11 members of the cast and crew from the film including Kevin Costner on the Sweet Spot with "For the Love of the Game" a nod to a ball signed in the film to Tigers' owner Gary Wheeler, played by Brian Cox. Included signatures are Kelly Preston, who played longtime girlfriend Jane Aubrey, as well as director Sam Raimi. Other actors and inscriptions include John C.
