(LOT 1757)
Gary Carter Game-Issued Louisville Slugger P89 Signed "To Chuck" (Connors) Bat PSA/DNA COA

Gary Carter was a masterful catcher for the Montreal Expos for a dozen years, earning him a trade to the up-and-coming New York Mets in the offseason in 1984. Carter ultimately helped lead the Mets to a World Series title in 1986, only the second in franchise history. Carter retired with an outstanding .991 fielding percentage behind the plate. Offered here is a game-issued Louisville Slugger P89 Gary Carter Professional Model bat signed and inscribed by the Hall of Fame catcher. Penned in blue Sharpie, Carter has written "To Chuck, Thank you again for your thoughtfulness! Continued good health success & happiness always. Take care & God Bless. Your friend – Gary Carter." The recipient is none other than The Rifleman Chuck Connors, former pro athlete with the Brooklyn Dodgers (1949) and Chicago Cubs (1951) as well as the Boston Celtics (1946-48). Connors was an avid baseball fan and he developed numerous relationships with ballplayers around the league. This 35-inch, 32-ounce game-issued lumber shows no signs of usage, but has been marked at the handle end with Carter's #8 in black permanent markers. PSA/DNA COA included, for auto only(AL56092).
