(LOT 1713)
1985-1997 Perez Steele Great Moments Set with 64/107 Signed with Matching Serial #s MLI LOA

The 1985-1997 Perez-Steele Great Moments series is comprised of 107 cards, which were released in nine series of 12 cards. Unfortunately, a few dozen players had passed away prior to the set's release, so immortals like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, and Roberto Clemente never had an opportunity to sign their cards. Sports artist, Dick Perez was a fan of the 1911 T3 Turkey Red Cabinet cards and he decided to model the Great Moments set after that issue. Measuring 5-3/4" x 8" each, these cards were produced on textured cardboard.

Hobbyists had a chance to track down 69 postcards that were possible to have signed from this series. This matching serial number autographed set includes signed cards in series order of: Al Kaline, Whitey Ford, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Warren Spahn, Sandy Koufax, Robin Roberts, Ernie Banks, Willie McCovey, Johnny Mize, Pee Wee Reese, Monte Irvin, Eddie Mathews, Enos Slaughter, Charlie Gehringer, Duke Snider, Ray Dandridge, Carl Hubbell, Bobby Doerr, Bill Dickey, Willie Stargell, Brooks Robinson, Billy Herman, Luis Aparicio, Lefty Gomez, Harmon Killebrew, Johnny Bench, Yogi Berra, Red Schoendienst, Juan Marichal, Buck Leonard, George Kell, Jim "Catfish" Hunter, Lou Boudreau, Al Lopez, Willie Mays, Lou Brock, Bob Lemon, Billy Williams, Rick Ferell, Carl Yastrzemski, Tom Seaver, Rollie Fingers, Ralph Kiner, Rod Carew, Gaylord Perry, Hal Newhouser, Early Wynn, Bob Feller, Jim Palmer, Al Barlick, Fergie Jenkins, Frank Robinson, Hoyt Wilhelm, Jim Bunning, Steve Carlton, Mike Schmidt, Tommy Lasorda, Reggie Jackson, Phil Niekro, Phil Rizzuto and Earl Weaver (Missing #89 Joe Morgan). There are 64 of the 69 cards that were possible to have signed in this series. Lot includes original boxes and 43 unsigned cards completing the same serial number set.
