Extremely Scarce 1953 -'55 Dormand Mickey Mantle "Bat on Shoulder" Signed Postcard – PSA 8 NM-MT AUTO GRADE - One of Only Three Signed PSA Examples!
One of the more obscure 1950s issues is the Dormand Postcards issued from 1953 through 1955 in small and large sizes. Popular Long Island, N.Y. photographer Louis Dormand was responsible for issuing these brilliant postcards that were utilized to fulfill fan requests for autographs and photos. Selected players were chosen from four different teams including the Yankees, Dodgers, White Sox and Athletics, with a majority of the subjects distributed in the standard 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" postcard size. It should come as little surprise that the most popular and valuable subject is Mickey Charles Mantle who was issued with both "Bat over Shoulder" and "Batting Stance" poses. Presented here is the "Bat on Shoulder" subject that has been signed by the iconic Mantle, with the bold blue Sharpie signature awarded a PSA 8 NM-MT assessment.

Extremely rare, this is one of only three autographed examples listed on the prestigious PSA Pop Chart, placing it as one of the scarcest of all signed Mickey Mantle baseball cards. Indeed, locating a signed Mantle Dormand postcard is synonymous to finding a needle in a haystack, similar to the Commerce Comet's unparalleled power that could have tested the confines of Yellowstone Park. The Mick's classic full body central image is nothing short of breathtaking as the young superstar gazes into the camera donning his classic pinstripes uniform, with an imposing Yankee Stadium backdrop adding to this offering's remarkable luster. The imposing blue PSA 8 autograph has been scripted directly beneath Mantle's chin, with the sparkling hues, crystal-clear clarity, and relatively clean surfaces combining to reflect solid VG-EX aesthetics.
