(LOT 1305)
1957 Original 7" x 9" Milwaukee Braves Team United Press News Service Type 1 Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

In 1957, the Milwaukee Braves and the New York Yankees won their respective leagues by eight games to then be pitted against one another in the World Series. Led by Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Lew Burdette and Warren Spahn, the Braves beat the Yankees in seven games to win their first title in ten years and the first since relocating from New England. Burdette went 3-0 in the World Series while Aaron hit three home runs and notched seven RBIs. Offered here is a 1957 Milwaukee Braves Type 1 team photo of the World Championship squad just prior to the World Series victory. With a reverse caption entitled "THE BRAVES' NEW WORLD" and dated "9-16-57", this United Press Photo displays the team in black-and-white on the outfield of County Stadium. Still in flawless condition, this PSA encased Authentic photo shows little to no typical signs of wear at the borders with only light handling smudges and no obstructive abrasions. The back still holds the paper caption and is stamped "REFERENCE - SEP 24 '57" at bottom right.
