(LOT 1287)
1943 Original George Dorrill 8" x 10" Type 1 New York Yankees World Champs Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

Well into the midst of World War II, American servicemen came from all walks, including Major League Baseball, as many players were shipped around the world to serve their country. And the New York Yankees were no exception, as the likes of Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Red Ruffing, Phil Rizzuto and Bill Dickey stepped up for America. Despite being depleted, much like other teams in the league, the Yankees continued their postseason success by capturing the 1943 World Series over the reigning World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals four-games-to-one. Offered is an original Type 1 George Dorrill photograph of the World Series champion New York Yankees. This PSA encapsulated 8" x 10" photo remains in great condition and has been marked on the face "New York Yankees... 1943" at center with "© The Sporting News Pub. Co." in white ink at bottom right. St. Louis photographer Dorrill was a frequent contributor to The Sporting News, a hometown newspaper. The reverse shows no visible flaws as well, consistent with the front and only holds a paper caption with the lineup listed per row. (See below) This photo still displays all of its original attributes with virtually no visible flaws obstructing the central World Series Champions team image.
