(LOT 1245)
c.1914 Original Walter Johnson Brown Brothers Type 1 Photograph - Measuring 4-1/2" x 7" - PSA-Authentic

TRAIN AT REST!!! You are looking at the reigning American League MVP having captured the title in 1913. In 1914, Walter Johnson led the AL in wins (28), complete games (33), shutouts (9), innings pitched (371.2) and strikeouts among other stats. He missed out on the pitching Triple Crown by an astounding 0.76 ERA points and he posted a 1.72 ERA. Two players actually topped his miniscule mark. Amazing. Offered here is a circa-1914 photograph of the Big Train seemingly at rest not appearing to get the start today. Measuring 4-1/2" x 7", this borderless Type 1 image of Johnson remains in excellent condition showing only the slightest wear with a crease at the bottom center near his shoe. The reverse of this PSA-Authentic encased photo carries not one, but five different Brown Brothers stampings, a pencil notation "Walter Johnson" and light paper residue at the bottom left corner. And while it may appear that Walter Johnson is relaxed, you can be certain that he was ready to go at any time. His 417 wins and record of 110 shutouts are a testament to his readiness!
