(LOT 1207)
Pair of Jim Brown Type 1 Publicity Photographs Including 1963 Kahn's Wieners Original Image

Football enthusiasts relentlessly debate the G.O.A.T., especially with seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady still lacing up his cleats. But as someone once said of the comparisons, "it always starts with Brown." Jim Brown had the ability to run around would-be tacklers or just plain run you over. His accolades are equally as impressive as his world-class talent, winning the 1957 AP NFL Rookie of the Year and MVP Awards, the latter of which he would capture twice more. He won an MVP award in 1/3 of his total seasons played. Unbelievable! G.O.A.T.?

Offered is a pair of Type 1 publicity photographs of the Cleveland Browns fullback. These two black and white 8-1/8" x 10" photos show Brown in two different in-action poses clutching the football. The first shows Brown looking forward, head up with the football under his left arm, used for his 1963 Kahn's Wiener card. Light unobtrusive creasing evident at the corners and at right edge. The reverse shows limited notations in pen and pencil with the "Henry M. Barr Studios, Inc." stamp. The second shows Jim protecting the ball with both hands at his midsection ready to drive through the offensive line. Similar light creasing is evident at the corners with notations in pen and pencil with the "Received Examiner Reference Library - Sep 5 1958" stamped in blue.
