(LOT 333)
Extraordinary Run of 120 Boston Red Sox Programs and Scorecards from 1901-2021 Including 49 Full Tickets and Stubs!

BOSOX YEARLY PROGRAMS!!! At the advent of the American League, established in 1901, three teams were absorbed from the Western League (DET, MIL, KC) and three others were founded in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Boston. The new Boston American franchise hit the ground running and were quite good as they went 79-57-2 in their first season. That success would continue as the Americans were the first champions in World Series history against the Pittsburgh Pirates of the rival National League. Changing their name to the Red Sox in 1908, the Beantown squad won four more World Series titles through 1918, and then... NOTHING! For 86 years, the BoSox came up empty, snake-bitten by the "Curse of the Bambino", despite winning four American League pennants in that span. But they finally broke through in 2004, sweeping St. Louis for their first title in 86 years and then won three more in '07, '13 & '18. The offered lot is an extensive collection of more than 120 programs and scorecards, one from each year, and ticket stubs from Boston's storied past. Unique to this collection that remains in excellent condition is the fact virtually 90% of these programs feature the eventual American League pennant winner, being either the Red Sox or that day's opponent.

Dating back to the first years as the Americans, this is the most extensive collection of programs from the Boston franchise that we have ever offered at auction. Highlighting this extraordinary compilation are the early World Series champion issues including 1901 (VG), 1902 World Champions (EX), 1912 (VG), 1913 World Champions (VG-EX), 1915 - score on the front in black and dated "Tuesday August 10, 1915" (VG-EX), 1916 World Champions (VG), 1918 (EX) & 1919 World Champions (VG-EX). The 1923 program features the signature of New York Yankees 3rd baseman Joe Dugan next to the interior scorecard. Overall, this extensive selection of Boston Red Sox programs remains from VG to NM condition with some better. The condition of the vintage issues is remarkable as they were well preserved for more than a century. Also included are nearly 50 ticket stubs dating from 1992 to 2019 and a 1988 program signed by Luis Polonia and Eric Plunk. Most significantly, this remarkable offering conjures up vivid memories of legendary Bo-Sox players such as Cy Young, Tris Speaker, the incomparable George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Carlton Fisk, Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, and David Ortiz, just to mention a few of the immortals who captivated the Beantown faithful for over a century of time. - Please visit the Memory Lane website for a full list of issues. ADDITIONAL SHIPPING CHARGES OF $75.00 APPLY TO THIS LOT*
