1965 Topps #160 Signed Roberto Clemente PSA 7 NM AUTO GRADE - One of Only Two Examples on the PSA "Pop" Chart!

Total Autographed Pop: 2; Total "Unsigned" Pop: 4,100; Var.% (Signed vs. Unsigned Pop): 0.05%
One of the most elusive of all signed Roberto Clemente cards is his 1965 Topps #160 subject, with the prestigious PSA Company listing only two encapsulated examples on their census report! That is certainly a "far cry" from the 4,100 Unsigned specimens that have been handled by PSA's card graders. Indeed, finding a 1965 Topps autographed Clemente card is one of the most excruciating tasks in the autograph collecting field, substantiating why this extremely rare offering merits the highest hobby accolades. Reflecting a bold blue ink PSA 7 NM assessment, the "Roberto Clemente" signature is situated in vertical fashion to the left of his classic portrait pose. While we strongly feel the script has been somewhat harshly judged and merits an "8 NM-MT" grade, its breathtaking eye appeal and utmost rarity truly stand as the most significant factors.

The 1965 season would see Clemente capture his second consecutive batting title, with the Cooperstown Inductee posting an outstanding 329 mark while also winning his fifth consecutive Gold Glove Award. One of Clemente's most desirable Topps issues subjects has always been his 1965 Topps #160 subject, courtesy of the super imposing portrait pose of the timeless icon. Although not reflecting a PSA card grade, its spectacular aesthetics obviously suggest a potential "VG" to "VG-EX" assessment, bolstered by the sparkling image quality, somewhat right-angled corners, and lack of any glaring surface blemishes on either side. A remarkable Clemente keepsake, its irrefutable "Pop 2" standing clearly justifies its world-class stature and rightful final resting place in the finest Clemente autograph compilation!
