1952 Topps #181 Signed Bob Swift - PSA 2 GOOD (MK) Card Grade; PSA AUTH Auto
Deceased: 1966; Grade Pop: 1; Pop Higher: 1; Total Pop: 4
Detroit Tigers catcher Bob Swift's "claim to fame" was being the catcher in the legendary Eddie Gaedel game played on August 19, 1951. One of St. Louis Browns' owner Bill Veeck's highly touted publicity stunts, he sent the 3' 7" Gaedel (weighing only 60 pounds) to the plate donning his "1/8" number, with Gaedel proceeding to walk on four consecutive pitches. It would be Gaedel's only MLB plate appearance, ending his career with a 1.000 on-base percentage. This scripted rarity is one of only four known Bob Swift autographed 1952 Topps subjects, meriting it a place in any esteemed '52 Topps signed gatherings!
