(LOT 2093)
1953 New York Yankees Team Signed OAL Baseball with Early Mantle JSA LOA

Once again, the New York Yankees were World Champions in 1953 running away with the American League pennant with a 99-52 record, 8.5 games ahead of the second place Cleveland Indians. Led by Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Johnny Mize and Whitey Ford and relatively new slugger Mickey Mantle. But Mantle had already left his mark on Major League Baseball finishing the 1952 season in third place for the AL MVP Award. Don't worry, he wins three before it's all over! After the dominant regular season, the Yankees again knocked off the talented Brooklyn Dodgers to win the 16th title in franchise history and astonishingly their fifth consecutive World Series title. Offered here is a beautiful "Official American League" baseball signed by the world champions, a total of 29 signatures that all range in strength from 6-8.

The key to this well-preserved orb is the early Mickey Mantle signature, who had not yet adopted his more flamboyant autograph that we would see in later pennings. The players and coaches are listed as follows: John Sain, Gil McDougald, Gene Woodling, Bill Renna, Phil Rizzuto, Charles Silvera, John Mize, Casey Stengel (mgr.) on sweet spot (Clubhouse Signature), Hank Bauer, Bill Dickey (coach), Jim Turner (coach), Joe Collins, Bill Miller, Yogi Berra, Frank Crosetti (Coach), Ralph Houk (coach), Don Bollweg, Bob Kuzava, Irv Noren, Bill Martin, Ed Ford, Ed Lopat, Andy Carey, Allie Reynolds, Ray Scarborough, Mickey Mantle, Ewell Blackwell, Jim McDonald & Vic Raschi. This ball is in remarkable condition with little signs of wear or soiling, not even from the players signing. Take a chance on this World Series champions team signed ball for your collection. IT'S A BEAUTY!
