(LOT 2066)
1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Signed Chief Meyers - JSA Autograph Authentic/SGC Authentic

After a brief stint at Dartmouth, John Tortes Meyers, saddled with the standard Native American "Chief" moniker by the MLB community of the early-1900s, joined the New York Giants in 1909 to handle a superior staff that included Hall of Famers Christy Mathewson and Rube Marquard. He spent nine years in the big leagues with the Giants, Brooklyn Robins and Boston Braves. Offered here is a 1911 Sweet Caporal T206 Chief Meyers Autographed card encased by SGC as Authentic, with a JSA Authentication cert sticker also included. Meyers signed this 1911 example at lower left, across his uniform, "'Chief' Meyers – 1957" in blue, a solid "8" strength. Encapsulated SGC-Authentic, the card displays GD to VG with expected aging, a minor ink blemish at bottom center and a pencil "319" notation on the reverse.
