(LOT 873)
1958 Topps #370 Yogi Berra PSA 10 GEM MINT - "POP 1"; The SOLE Highest Graded Example!

Who would have thought when the New York Yankees called up their 21-year old catcher Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra from their AAA Minnesota farm club in 1946, that this young aspiring star would be embarking on a spectacular 19-year HOF career. Arguably considered one of the two greatest all-time catchers along with Johnny Bench, it would take a full catalog to appropriately list all of his remarkable achievements. Highly noted for his clutch performances on baseball's grandest stages, Berra's World Series records include: 14 appearances, 10 championships, 75 games played in and 71 all-time hits. If that isn't enough, he won three MVP Awards and played in 15 All-Star games. Along with the immortal Mickey Mantle, he was the main cog on a Yankees team that played in a majority of the Fall Classics from the late 1940s through the early 1960s.

As a steadfast testament to Berra's all-time stature, presented here is an incredible PSA 10 GEM MINT 1958 Topps Berra subject that synonymous with his all-time catcher standing, resides as the SOLE example at this "perfect" assessment. The undisputed "best of the rest", it sits alone atop the PSA "Pop" Chart, with its sanctified grade rightfully earned by a myriad of pack-fresh attributes. The extremely well-centered image reveals a candid Berra good-natured grin that is well projected via the immaculate blood-orange background. Defying "father-time" are the impeccable surfaces, razor-sharp edges and blinding white borders, and it is no stretch of the imagination to state this remarkable offering truly stands as one of Yogi's finest cards. Issued during the season when the Yankees would exact revenge on the Milwaukee Braves to reclaim their championship status, its irrefutable "POP 1" standing knows not a single '58 Topps Berra peer!
