(LOT 1730)
1932 Official Game-Used Baseball from Doubleheader between Philadelphia A's and New York Yankees on June 1, 1932 – PSA/DNA LOA

On June 1, 1932, the Philadelphia A's hosted the New York Yankees in a doubleheader featuring some of the greatest players in history including Hall of Famers Jimmie Foxx and Mickey Cochrane on the A's side and Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig for the Bombers. Game 1 ended in the bottom of the 16th inning with Max Bishop blasting a home run to deep right. Cochrane also homered and Lefty Grove posted the 8-7 win after eight innings of relief, replacing Roy Mahaffey. Game 2 was another close contest as the A's again outlasted the mighty Yanks with Jimmie Foxx clouting the go-ahead home run in the 7th off George Pipgras. Ruth and Gehrig batted 4-for-18 over two games with no HRs. Offered is an official William Harridge game-used baseball from the nightcap inscribed "Last ball in game in Phila. June 1st, '32" across the sweet spot. The left panel also states the line and the pitching batteries with "NEW YORK – 6.R, 11H, 2E – Pipgras & Jorgens" while the right panel reads "Phila. – 7R, 10.H, 1.E – Walberg & Cochrane". Overall, the ball remains in good condition with some toning and noticeable game-use with scuff and dirt staining visible. This is a fantastic and rare relic from two of baseball's powerhouses of the 1930s! PSA/DNA LOA included.
