1889 A28 W. Duke Sons & Co. The Heroes of the Civil War Album
VINTAGE FIND!!! Presented is a magnificently colorful "The Heroes of the Civil War" album appearing in VG-EX condition. The vibrant depiction of a Union Civil War cannon scene is overshadowed only by the two card illustrations of Generals Grant and Lee juxtaposed that appear as if resting on the album itself. Measuring 7" x 10-1/2", this now 132-year-old album could be exchanged for several coupons that were found in cigarette packs. Though slightly worn with separation at the top and bottom corners, the royal blue binding remains intact with rust wear at each staple. The face shows some creasing, liquid marks and edge wear, but it remains aesthetically bold for a 19th century album. The back cover, though also bright and colorful, displays signs of creasing along the top and bottom and paper loss at each corner as well as the bottom border.
