(LOT 204)
T206 Frank Chance "Red Portrait" Brown Hindu (PSA 5 EX) - "Pop 2" Only 1 PSA Brown Hindu Graded Higher!

Extremely "rare for the grade", this PSA EX 5 Red Portrait Frank Chance brown Hindu Cigarettes offering stands as one of only two examples at this mid-grade plateau with a SOLE specimen graded higher! One of only ten PSA encapsulated T206 Chance "Red Portrait" Brown Hindu's, the renowned T206 Resource Website lists the "Brown Hindu" as the 14th scarcest tobacco advertisement (there are 39 different T206 ad backs), with collectors actively seeking any T206 Hindu subject, let alone a premier Cooperstown Inductee. The immortal Frank Chance will forever be linked to the legendary "Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance" double play combination, and while a fine 1st baseman and batsman, Chance's place in Cooperstown was solidified by his managerial success.

From 1906 - 1910, he led the Cubs to four pennants in five years including two World Championships, with this world-class prize likewise depicting championship caliber. The well centered image reveals a fine red hued background encompassing Carl Horner's timeless Chance portrait pose, with only some subtle wear to the original red hue. Superb side-to-side centering is only partly compromised by the image favoring the upper edge, and the even corner wear is most likely responsible for the grade. The final superlative is the highly coveted Brown HINDU/Factory 649 ad back stubbornly defying "Father-Time", retaining a majority of its original superb aesthetics that rightfully earn it the utmost accolades from any sophisticated T206 ad back collector!
