1973 Topps #220 Nolan Ryan PSA 10 GEM MINT - "Pop 6"
This miraculous 1973 Topps #220 masterpiece of the legendary right-handed fireballer Nolan Ryan has been rightfully awarded the perfect PSA Gem Mint 10 assessment! Most significantly, the paltry 6 examples that have achieved the hallowed "10" grade represent a microscopic 0.1% of the total 4,300 PSA encapsulated Nolan Ryan subjects. Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan is certainly one of the greatest pitchers who ever lived. His 5,386 strikeouts and seven no-hitters are records that will, arguably, never be broken, and his reputation as one of the game's greatest pitchers was solidified when he was voted as the starting pitcher on baseball's "Team of the Century". His 1973 Topps subject was issued a year after he propelled himself as one of baseball's premier pitchers after being traded from the "Big Apple" (N.Y. Mets) to the 'West Coast" (California Angels) for Jim Fregosi before the 1972 campaign.
The 1973 season would see the flame throwing right-hander post his first "20-win" season (21 wins) and break Sandy Koufax's "modern-day" single-season strikeout record by fanning 383 batters! Synonymous with that achievement are the record-breaking aesthetics of this immaculate cardboard offering that offers virtually unimprovable attributes including a classic "hands over head" Ryan pitching pose, outstanding resolution, rich hues, pinpoint corner tips, and impeccable surfaces revealing no flaws whatsoever. The final "thumbs up" is the near-impossible to find "dead-on" 50/50 centering, with most 1973 subjects exhibiting skewed images. Possibly the finest of the six "Gem Mint 10" examples (we cannot imagine any '73 Topps Ryan besting this extraordinary example), now is your golden opportunity to jump aboard the "Ryan Express" and go the distance to obtain this "best of the best" keepsake!
