(LOT 81)
"Unique for the Grade" 1932 U.S. Caramel George Washington SGC 9 MINT - "Pop 1" – The Sole & Highest Graded Example on the Combined SGC & PSA "Pop" Charts!

This remarkable 1932 U.S. Caramel George Washington has been graded a "one of a kind" SGC Mint 9, the sole copy encapsulated at this hallowed assessment by BOTH SGC and PSA, with NONE graded higher. "Unique for the grade" and synonymous with the "Father of our Country", it stands alone on any census report as the finest of its kind! Furthermore, both the PSA and SGC's illustrious "Pop" Charts incredibly reveal that of the 31 Presidents in the set, only a single other subject has achieved a "Mint 9" assessment (an SGC Mint 9 Zachary Taylor), with not a sole card awarded the elusive Gem Mint 10 grade. Along with their ultra-popular 1932 Sports compilation, the East-Boston based U.S. Caramel candy confectionary company also issued a 31-subject U.S. Presidents set that is highly regarded as one of the most coveted of all non-sports card gatherings. Aside from the ultra-rare William McKinley subject that was assumingly short-printed to continue luring kids to candy stores in a seemingly hopeless pursuit of compiling a complete 31-card set (similar to the 1933 Goudey Lajoie issue), the most renowned presidential cards are predictably Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

These two iconic individuals stand out as the two most celebrated American Presidents, with George Washington laying the groundwork for what was to ultimately become the globe's greatest country. Along with Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, the immortal George Washington will forever reside as one of our Nation's foremost "Founding Fathers", with his unparalleled leadership paving the way to victory over Britain in the Revolutionary War and freeing the inaugural 13 Colonies from tyranny and oppression. Washington was ultimately sworn in as the first President of the United States of America on April 30, 1789, less than two years after the U.S. Constitution was finalized on September 17, 1787. Arguably sufficing as Washington's most coveted cardboard issue, this miraculous offering resides as the undisputable pinnacle example, with its pack-fresh condition substantiating the hallowed "Mint 9" assessment. A blazer to say the least, its sparkling image, bright red/orange hued setting, fine centering (only revealing a modest favoritism towards the right edge), clean borders, pinpoint corners and super clean surfaces all combine to reveal a nearly immaculate card defying 89 years of potential wear. Similar to Washington's pinnacle stature in American history, it proudly stands alone at the top of any professional grading company's "Pop" Charts as the "best of the rest" for all 31 Presidential subjects, an absolutely amazing population report accomplishment seldom offered in any card collecting sector!
