(LOT 177)
Remarkable 1911 T3 Turkey Red Eddie Collins – Turkey Red Back (PSA NM+ 7.5) – "1 of 1" & the Highest Graded Example!

Locating a T3 Turkey Red subject in a near-mint+ grade or better is synonymous to "finding a needle in a haystack", with PSA's illustrious "Pop" Chart easily substantiating that notion. At the time this was written, of the nearly 6,900 PSA encapsulated copies, a microscopic-like .06% (4 examples) had achieved the 7.5 and 8 grades! Incredibly, the two PSA 8's are both assigned to Ty Cobb, with the two 7.5's awarded to the #43 "Out at Third" and Eddie Collins Turkey Red Back subjects. Offered here just happens to be that sole Eddie Collins NM+ 7.5 gem that stands tall as the finest of its kind! It is only fitting that 1939 Hall of Fame inductee Eddie Collins would retain the near-impossible 7.5 assessment for along with Hornsby and Lajoie, Collins is regarded as one of the finest 2nd sackers of all-time.

His statistical achievements make a strong case for this argument including a staggering .333 lifetime average accumulated via 3,315 hits. Collins was also a complete player, widely regarded as the best fielding 2nd baseman of his era, and was a fantastic base runner, swiping 741 bases throughout a spectacular 25-year career. That said, what could be more rewarding than capturing one of his most astonishing pre-WW1 cardboard keepsakes that has stubbornly defied "father-time" by retaining nearly all of its original factory issued attributes. Near-perfect image quality including crystal clear clarity and brilliant hues "steal the show" as Collins prepares to smack another one of his typical line-drive safeties. Right-angled corners, sharp edging and clean surfaces including an impeccable-like Turkey Red back are the final compliments for Collins' finest Turkey Red specimen as well as one of the premier T3's on the planet covering all 147 possible baseball subjects!
