c.1940 Babe Ruth Signed World's Fair Laurel/Academy of Sport Card - PSA/DNA "Mint 9" Autograph
This awe-inspiring 1940 Laurel Card (Academy of Sport World's Fair Card) is boldly signed by none other than the immortal Babe Ruth, with the "Babe's" hallowed script graded a PSA "Mint 9" by the illustrious PSA/DNA Grading Company. These Laurel Cards were presented to individuals who attended the Academy of Sport instruction for a single sport, sponsored by the legendary New York World's Fair. This particular Laurel Card was presented to Arthur Schnetzer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and boldly reads: "Laurel Card – NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR – Academy of Sport – SCHOOL of BASEBALL", likewise including the iconic "Trylon" and "Perisphere" World's Fair blue logos near the upper left corner.

These massive structures were designed by architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux, intended to be the momentous Theme Center of the 1939/'40 World's Fair. Of course, the "Instructor of the Day" was Babe Ruth, and it is the Bambino's legendary black fountain pen script that is situated near the lower right quadrant. Students who attended a single sports class received these Laurel Cards signed by Babe Ruth, and individuals attending multiple classes were provided a larger Academy of Sport certificate measuring 8-1/2" x 11", also signed by Ruth. The flipside reveals an elaborate blue wreath design that includes a central ribbon reading: "AMERICAN ACADEMY OF SPORT – GOLDEN LAUREL – NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR". The 1939 World's Fair officially closed on October 27, 1940, and this extremely significant Ruthian artifact including his exalted script turns back the clock to an era when the "Sultan of Swat" utilized his unparalleled popularity to promote what would ultimately become one of the most celebrated global events of the 20th century! - PSA/DNA "Mint 9" Autograph/Encapsulation
