(LOT 97)
1974 Topps #196 George Gervin Rookie Card (PSA Gem Mint 10)

There can be no better card to own than a Hall of Famer's rookie subject that resides in the pinnacle PSA Gem Mint 10 holder. Such is the case for this extremely "rare for the grade" 1974 Topps George Gervin PSA 10 rookie that joins only 3 other specimens as the finest of its kind! Indeed, the illustrious PSA Grading Company has encapsulated over 1,000 Gervin 1974 Topps rookies with only 0.4% achieving the hallowed Gem Mint 10 assessment. Nicknamed "The Iceman", the Hall of Fame shooting guard/small forward played 14 seasons in the ABA and NBA for the Virginia Squires, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. Before his retirement after the 1985/'86 campaign, Gervin amassed an incredible 25.1 scoring average via a staggering 26,595 career points. Along this joyous ride, Gervin captured 4 NBA scoring titles (1978-'80; '82), was selected to 9 NBA All-Star teams, and was ultimately chosen as one of the NBA's 50 greatest players.

No wonder passionate collectors actively seek his exalted rookie card, with this PSA 10 offering the perfect testament for Gervin's remarkable basketball legacy. Every technical attribute is consistent with the pinnacle assessment including pristine surfaces, a crystal-clear illustration, near-perfect centering w/no tilt (an atypical quality since many 1974 Topps cards reveal skewed images), razor-sharp corner tips and no glaring factory issued print defects. Miraculous in every sense of the word, it proudly stands tall as the "best of the best", and we cannot imagine any of the other three PSA 10's possibly showcasing the unparalleled aesthetics emanating from this breathtaking gem!
