(LOT 111)
Iconic c.1921 Babe Ruth PSA Type I Encapsulated Christy Walsh Syndicate Photo – Image Used for 5 Babe Ruth Cards incl. Ruth's 1926 Kut-Outs; 1929/'30 Rogers Peet; 1932 Sanella; 1932 Astra & 1937 Donut Co. Of America - Measures Approx. 7-3/4" x 9-3/8" – PSA Type 1 LOA

The year is 1921 and Babe Ruth never looked better as he dons his classic Yankee pinstripe uniform and seldom seen white pinstripe cap at the Polo Grounds, completing his mighty swing that has sent another horsehide sphere towards the furthest confines of this historic ballpark. Indeed, Yankee Stadium (The house that Ruth built) was not yet constructed and the "Sultan of Swat" would share his home field with John McGraw's New York Giants. Little did Babe Ruth realize that the end of the 1921 campaign would see the immortal slugger achieve one of baseball's finest all-time batting feats; walloping 59 round-trippers, knocking in 168 runs and posting an amazing .378 batting average. Ironically, Ruth would lead the Yankees to the 1921 World Series against McGraw's Giants, eventually falling to their cross-town rivals in the Fall Classic. Most significant, however, is this incredible Christy Walsh Syndicate heirloom that portrays an iconic "Bambino" batting image utilized for 5 of his highly coveted cardboard issues.

Those baseball card issues include Ruth's 1926 Kut-Outs; 1929/'30 Rogers Peet; 1932 Sanella; 1932 Astra and 1937 Donut Co. of America, an unfathomable FIVE separate baseball card subjects that portray this hallowed Ruth batting illustration. Measuring approximately 7" x 9", the critical central Ruthian sepia-toned image depicts magnificent crystal-clear clarity and fine contrast as the majestic "Babe" completes his classic swing and watches another mammoth blast sail towards the Polo Ground's grandstands. Notable blemishes include some stray soiling spots, none of which detract from the legendary batting pose, and the critical "Christy Walsh Syndicate" credit stamp as well as some stray ink notations are affixed to the flipside. This extraordinary offering literally "turns back the clock" to an era when the bambino was revolutionizing our National Pastime, serving as a steadfast reminder of Ruth's supernatural-like dominance that turned the baseball world upside down. Originally struck in 1921, little did Ruth realize he was embarking on a career that would place him at the top of virtually every historians list as the greatest player to ever grace a ball field. A truly magnificent 1921 "Sultan of Swat" heirloom, it depicts an image remarkably used for five different Ruth baseball card subjects; standing as a bona-fide testament of the "Babe's" unparalleled dominance of America's favorite pastime!
