(LOT 65)
"Fresh to the Hobby" 1955 Ashland/Aetna Oil College Basketball 6-Card Complete Strip incl. HOF Coach Adolph Rupp; William Bibb; Ronald Pellegrinon; James Mitchell; Jesse Mayabb; Omar Fannin

Presented here is a remarkable and complete 6-card 1955 Ashland/Aetna Oil College Basketball vertical strip that includes the original factory issued 6 un-cut subjects from the Kentucky-based Wildcats, Eastern Maroons, and Morehead Eagles. Players include HOF Kentucky Wildcats Coach Adolph Rupp; forward William Bibb (Wildcats); guard Ronald Pellegrinon (Maroons); guard James Mitchell (Maroons); forward Jesse Mayabb (Morehead Eagles) and forward Omar Fannin (Morehead Eagles). The top header includes the standard "hole-punch" utilized for purposes of hanging the 6-card strips on a gas station rack. This 6-card panel includes 2 players from 3-different Kentucky-based schools, with the header caption reflecting "KY. – EASTERN – MOREHEAD NO. 6" text (the "NO. 6 denotes the KY; EASTERN & MOREHEAD schools).

Other than the aforementioned standard hole punch, the remainder of the strip is near-immaculate, exhibiting spectacular aesthetics highlighted by 6 captivating portrait images, razor-sharp edging and clean surfaces that have miraculously eluded any obtrusive blemishes. Each subject's classic Ashland Oil ad-back depicts the player's vital statistics, graduation class and hometown, and of significant note, Kentucky Wildcats legendary coach Adolph Rupp stands as the 7th all-time winning coach via his staggering 876 wins and is a member of both the Naismith and College Basketball Hall of Fames. Extremely rare and "fresh to the hobby", this particular strip just happens to include the most significant and valuable subject in the set (coach Adolph Rupp), further substantiating its immense desirability among the hobby's most advanced "type card" collectors!
