1927 New York Yankees Outfielders Incl. Earl Combs, Babe Ruth & Meusel - Original Type I Underwood & Underwood Photo – Measures Approx. 7-3/8" x 9" – PSA Type I Encapsulation
Led by "Murderer's Row", the 1927 New York Yankees are arguably dubbed "the greatest team in baseball history!" The Yankees would win a staggering 110 games against only 44 loses to the tune of an incredible .710 winning percentage, eventually claiming their second world championship by sweeping the Pirates in an uncontested four games. Along with their unparalleled cast of sluggers that included Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Combs, and Meusel, they were ably supported by a steady pitching staff led by Herb Pennock and Wait Hoyt. Presented here is a magnificent 7-3/8" x 9" black & white Type I photo depicting their All-Star outfield with these three superstars including from left to right: Earl Combs, Babe Ruth and Bob Meusel.
Portraying superb clarity and contrast, the image is simply sensational, with the two lower corner chips having little to no negative impact on the breathtaking central image. The verso reveals the highly-coveted caption outlining the photo's details and several Underwood & Underwood stampings, with the illustration taken directly after the Yankees clinched their second consecutive American League pennant. A magnificent keepsake from that exalted 1927 campaign, it vividly portrays one of our National Pastime's finest outfielder trios ever assembled on a single ballclub!
