Complete 1956 Topps Pins Set
In 1956, Topps issued their first ever pin set that included 60 subjects (vs. an originally planned 90 pins) with extremely colorful player images on their obverse side. Measuring approximately 1-1/8" in diameter, a single pin was boxed with bubble gum, with the obverse side's portraying the exact player portrait used on the 1956 Topps cards, and the versos including a standard pin clasp. A majority of the stars from that era are included such as iconic Cooperstown Inductees Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams, just to mention a few.
Presented here is a complete set of this rather obscure Topps specialty issue with a majority of the cards grading "EX/MT" to "NM/MT" and a few reflecting lesser assessments. A list of some of the legendary players and their approximate grades are as follows:
1 Aaron/HOF (NM/MT), 4 Banks/HOF (EX/MT), 5 Berra/HOF (EX/MT), 8 Boyer (NM), 21 Hodges (NM), 25 Kaline/HOF (EX/MT), 27 Kluszewski (NM), 30 Mathews/HOF (NM/MT), 31 Mays/HOF (NM), 41 Rizzuto/HOF (EX), 42 Robinson/HOF (NM), 48 Skowron (EX/MT+), 50 Snider/HOF (NM/MT), 51 Spahn/HOF (NM), 59 Williams/HOF (NM/MT).
