Babe Ruth & Christy Walsh Original Type I c.1920's Sponagel & Hermann Studio, S.F. Photo – Measures Approx. 5" x 6-1/4" – Full PSA Type I LOA
This eclectic image of a youthful Babe Ruth was taken in the early 1920's by Sponagel & Hermann Studios and includes Ruth's renowned press agent Christy Walsh. Measuring approximately, 5" x 6-1/4", the image reveals the Bambino at a microphone with Walsh to his right (left side of the picture), and the American Flag hanging on the wall near the upper left quadrant (an unidentified man is situated to Ruth's left). Portraying magnificent clarity and contrast, no photo could possibly boast finer aesthetics than this time-defying marvel that literally brings Ruth "to life" via its seemingly immaculate image.
Other than a modest lower edge diagonal trim, no glaring flaws are evident with the verso reflecting a Culver Pictures, Inc. credit stamp. As Babe Ruth enthusiasts surely realize, Christy Walsh spent an infinite-like amount of time promoting the "Sultan of Swat" to his avid fan base, setting up a myriad of endorsements for Ruth including the iconic Barnstorming Tours and numerous radio broadcasts such as this extremely obscure illustration. - Full PSA Type I LOA
