(LOT 147)
1963 Topps #300 Willie Mays PSA 9 MINT

63 MAYS!!! The 1963 campaign would see the "Say Hey Kid" clout 38 round-trippers, knock in 103 runs and post a stellar .314 batting average; another typical Willie Mays season expected by his seemingly infinite fan base. The Topps Chewing Gum Company chose a splendid pose for their 1963 Mays subject, utilizing a classic "bat over shoulders" illustration as well as a black & white swinging pose affixed to the lower right red circle. Two batting poses for the price of one is always a fine scenario, especially when the player is the unparalleled Willie Mays who rightfully stands as baseball's greatest living player.

The undisputed finest post-WWII "5 tool player", many historians consider Mays the greatest of them all, synonymous with the world-class standing of this miraculous PSA Mint 9 offering that has been bested by only a sole PSA encapsulated specimen! Every possible aspect of this gem leans towards "cardboard perfection" including its crystal clear and richly hued image, snow white borders, pinpoint corners, fine centering (with only a trace of favoritism towards the left edge), and flawless-like surfaces. Additionally, the typical glaring printer marks that plague the inner red circle have eluded this card, with its coupled technical attributes and astonishing eye appeal easily consistent with the hallowed "Mint" assessment!
