(LOT 33)
1903 E107 Breisch Williams George Winters (Winter) "Type 1" (PSA VG 3) – "1 of 1" & The Highest Graded Example on the COMBINED SGC & PSA "Pop" Charts!

One of the rarest Bresich Williams subjects is the ultra-elusive subject of George Winters (Winter), with this remarkable PSA 3 "Type 1" E107 Winters offering one of only three encapsulated examples on ANY Grading Services population report. Furthermore, it just happens to be the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED Winters subject on the COMBINED PSA and SGC census reports, proudly standing tall as the finest of its kind! As an interesting note, the image on the Winters subject actually belongs to Patsy Dougherty (with the Dougherty E107 subject also presented in this auction actually depicting an image of Tom Hughes).

The Carl Horner illustration reveals the classic Boston Americans uniform, and a stoic portrait Dougherty pose emanating brilliant contrast and registration. The lower text boldly portrays Winters name an "P" position, defining this Dougherty image as a clear E107 Winters subject. The image exhibits a modest tilt towards the upper right corner, the surfaces have eluded any glaring flaws, the corners portray typical "VG" wear and the verso reflects the standard "One of a hundred and fifty prominent Baseball players" E107 verbiage. An outstanding George Winters (Winter) offering, it has defied "father time" to proudly claim the title as the stand-alone "best of the rest" E107 Winter subjects for which there are only three existing encapsulated examples!
