(LOT 17)
1910 E98 Frank Chance Black Swamp Find Red SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5

TINKER-EVERS-CHANCE!!! The legendary Chicago Cub's HOF first baseman Frank Chance never looked better than on this extraordinary SGC 92 Black Swamp offering. It is no secret that the 2012 "Black Swamp" find stands as one of the foremost discoveries in our illustrious hobby, with a hoard of these magnificent E98 Anonymous subjects found safely preserved in an Ohio attic, with Frank Chance residing as one of the set's foremost players. Nicknamed the "Peerless Leader", Chance will eternally be remembered as the final link in the immortal "Tinker to Evers to Chance" double play combination. While a fine 1st baseman and batsman, Chance's place in Cooperstown was solidified by his managerial success. From 1906 1910 he led the Cubs to four pennants in five years including two World Championships, a feat that should in no way be underestimated for it took the Cubs 108 years to capture their next title! Chance's breathtaking batting pose likewise exhibits championship caliber via its crystal-clear clarity, extremely well centered positioning and bright white borders. The classic image is boldly emanated via the rich red background that reveals no flaws; with the immaculate-like surfaces, pinpoint corners and a super clean verso all justifying a grade that seems almost somewhat harsh since a majority of the technical attributes are consistent with any Mint 9 specimen!
