The HOLY GRAIL of the Hobby!

(Lot 1)
1909-1911 T206 Honus Wagner PSA 2 Good
In the Top 10% of ALL Wagner’s for Eye Appeal!

A HOBBY ICON! This card is considered the ultimate piece of cardboard in our Hobby. “Owning a Wagner is the dream of every Collector in the Hobby familiar with the legend of this card. It’s the pinnacle of every Collector’s dream who can afford it!” (1)

Among the privileged fraternity of Collectors who are able to fulfill their dream of owning a T206 Wagner in any grade (2); this card, in what is looked upon as the crowning achievement in the Hobby is The HOLY GRAIL of all cards to own!

There are fewer than 100 known examples of the T206 White Border Honus Wagner card. (And very few in this high grade tier with the undiminished eye appeal of this card.) Industry experts agree that the American Tobacco Trust halted the printing of Wagner’s card early in the T206 set’s three-year production period. (3)

Wagner did not want to be a role model to entice children to smoke so he requested his card image be taken out of the American Tobacco packs! Hence the card’s very rare existence!
“ I don’t want my picture in any cigarettes, but I also don’t want you to lose the ten dollars, so I’m enclosing my check for that sum” (4) Honus Wagner

Since day one, The Wagner T206 has always been the Hobby’s most preeminent treasure! This card, even being offered at Auction at all, is a rare event in itself! Historically, the American Card Catalogue, first published in the 1930’s listed the other T206 card in the set at 35¢ - the Wagner card already famous listed a value of $50! (5)
MIN BID $50,000

The Condition
In a word, Phenomenal eye appeal. This example has some light creasing that almost goes unnoticeable to the naked eye. A light surface tear, discernible only upon close examination. The corner wear is most acceptable for a near 100 year old card. The image portrait of Wagner is regal, the card colors are deep and rich, and vibrantly bright. This card holds the eye. This card is a “very high-end” PSA 2 and would grade much higher if not for a slight paper loss on the reverse. A most Magnificent Wagner with undiminished eye appeal! An elite Dream card for a very privileged few to own. The value of Wagner cards continues to grow upward. Recent values for Wagners, in any grade have multiplied in value over the last decade. We believe this Wagner, without a doubt, is in the top 10% of its class for eye appeal. This card is exceptional! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a Wagner with this eye appeal caliber!
