(LOT 60)
"Unique for the Grade" 1961 Kahn's Wieners Oscar Robertson (PSA Mint 9) – "1 of 1" & The SOLE/HIGHEST GRADED Example!

Long before the landmark 1961 Fleer basketball set was released, the Kahn's Cincinnati based meat company was already releasing their Kahn's Wieners basketball cards in packs of Kahn's Wieners hot dogs. From 1957 – 1965, the regional meat manufacturer inserted a single card of a Cincinnati Royal player in their popular hot dog packs, justifying their immense condition sensitivity, with many of the cards surviving with stains and indentations from the frozen hot dogs. Kahn's catchy slogan was "The Wiener the World Awaited For", and in 1960, produced the inaugural Oscar Robertson card that even pre-dates his 1961 Fleer rookie. Presented here just happens to be "Big O's" second Kahn's Wieners card from 1961, a "fresh to the hobby" PSA Mint 9 marvel that was recently encapsulated by PSA.

Amazingly, it suffices as the SOLE example at this pinnacle plateau and the highest graded specimen on PSA's illustrious "Pop" chart, now surpassing the two previous PSA 8 copies! Incredibly scarcer than its 1961 Fleer brethren, only 22 Oscar Robertson 1961 Kahn's cards have been encapsulated by PSA vs. nearly 900 1961 Fleer copies, a fractional 2% of the total PSA graded Fleer specimens! Indeed, the 1961 Kahn's Robertson issue stands as an extremely obscure regional issue, and synonymous with Robertson's incredible legacy, this supreme offering steadfastly stands alone as the finest of its kind. The list of superlatives for the legendary Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson is synonymous to an infinite-like novel.

Along with Russell, Jordan, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Bryant and Lebron James, he stands tall as one of the greatest players in NBA history. His lifetime statistics alone solidify his irrefutable iconic standing with the "Big O" averaging an unfathomable 25.7 points, 9.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game! For 14 seasons with the Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks he dominated the hardwood floor virtually better than any of his peers, dubbed the "king of the triple double" whereby he resides as the only basketball player to ever miraculously average a "triple double" for an entire season (1961 Campaign – 30.8 points; 11.4 assists; 12.5 rebounds)! The 12-time all-star point guard won his only MVP award in 1964, claimed 6 NBA assist titles and won an NBA championship in 1971 with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Recently found in a "raw" card collection, this PSA Mint 9 masterpiece portrays virtually all of the technical attributes and eye appeal of any immaculate example. The seemingly perfect black & white Oscar Robertson image is virtually flawless as "Big O" appears to be dribbling his way into basketball immortality. The borderless illustration includes the aforementioned "The Wiener the World Awaited" Kahn's slogan, the corners are blistering sharp and no surface flaws are evident on either side. One of the most exciting concepts in the card collecting community is a newly found gem, and this "unique for the grade" pinnacle "1 of 1" rarity representing one of Oscar Robertson's earliest issues unquestionably stands as one of his most miraculous cardboard treasures!
